Any chinese influenced culture will have this kind of "nanny" ...my mom and my sis in law's mom become the "nannies" for my sis in law after her giving birth. Her mom cooked all those "chinese medicine" soup for her..my mom make turmeric juice out of scratch. She didn't have complication after her C-sec surgery. All the wound healed very fast and nicely..

Depending on where you are in the US you can hire a post-partum dula or night dula....its more than $50 a day though.

Wow, how lucky to be in that kind od country while postpartum, I live in Italy and basically people and also nurses at the hospital don't help you, I remember not so long ago a newborn died from lack of oxygen while the mom was breastfeeding him. It's horrible, but you are supposed to be ready and be on your own from the first moment...

no but after delivery or from 7 month onwards (of pregnancy) women go to their Mother's house and our Mothers take care of us for 1 to 3 months. they teach us how to take care of newborn and ourselves. they cook us food specifically customised for postpartum healing. they let us rest with our baby and take care of the dirty laundry, food, cleaning etc.

Sorry,even for free I would have never Ever let a stranger come into my house taking care of my newborn baby. It's a sacrifice but it gives you the best memories with yr baby creating the bond with him/her. Grandma, sister, husband or even friends could help in case of need. Not a stranger.
